  7.     No nose rings. No 5-lb. gold necklaces. No screechy
  8. political tirades. BOYZ II MEN are just a few young guys with
  9. a gift for a cappella, a penchant for plaid shirts and a place
  10. in pop-music history. Last week the Philadelphia-bred foursome
  11. (combined age, 79) broke a record set by the only rocker with
  12. his own postage stamp. Dethroning King Elvis, Boyz can now boast
  13. of having the longest-running pop single of the rock era. For
  14. 12 straight weeks, End of the Road has graced the top spot on
  15. Billboard's Hot 100 chart -- a sweet follow-up to the success
  16. of the group's debut album Cooleyhighharmony, which astoundingly
  17. went quadruple platinum. Their appeal? The Boyz can churn out
  18. soulful ballads as well as gritty funk. And they convey a sense
  19. of good old-fashioned humility so genuine it's marketable.
  20. "We're just four regular guys enjoying everything the Lord has
  21. blessed us with," says vocalist Shawn Stockman. "We're very,
  22. very happy."
